How do girls choose sunscreen?
What do SPF and PA stand for in sunscreen?
SPF is the Sun Protection Factor: It mainly measures the UV protection ability. The number after SPF represents the multiple times the product can delay the skin from being sunburned, the higher the number, the stronger the defense.
Generally, skin can resist sunlight for 15 minutes without being sunburned.
Sunscreen delay time for sunburn = Tolerance time without sunscreen X Sun Protection Factor.
For example:
SPF15 = 15 X 15 minutes = 225 minutes. SPF30 = 30 X 15 minutes = 450 minutes.
It should be noted that: the higher the SPF value of sunscreen does not mean the better, it should also be selected according to the actual usage situation
PA is UVA protection grade: It mainly measures the UVA protection ability, represented by "+" to indicate the defense strength, the more "+" signs, the better the defense strength, the longer the time to delay tanning, PA's defense effect is divided into three levels, PA+, PA++, PA+++.
Types of sunscreen:
1. Hard sunscreen
Refers to sun umbrellas, sun protection clothing, hats, sleeves, sun protection glasses, which achieve the purpose of sunscreen by blocking ultraviolet rays, visible light, etc.
2. Physical sunscreen
Physical sunscreen, also known as ultraviolet scattering agents, are also called inorganic sunscreens, including titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Such substances do not absorb ultraviolet rays but can reflect, scatter, and block ultraviolet rays. Applied on the skin, they can physically shield ultraviolet rays and only stay on the surface of the skin without being absorbed, ensuring high safety.
3. Chemical sunscreen
Chemical sunscreen, also known as ultraviolet absorbers, also called organic sunscreens, mainly include ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, avobenzone (butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane), octocrylene, homosalate, and ethylhexyl salicylate, etc. It achieves sun protection by absorbing ultraviolet rays, but due to photodegradation in light-induced chemical reactions, it is necessary to reapply sunscreen timely.
Common sunscreen misconceptions:
1. Only apply sunscreen once a day
2. Go out immediately after applying sunscreen
3. Only need to apply sunscreen in summer
4. Applying sunscreen too thinly
How to choose sunscreen for different skin types!
Dry skin: Choose moisturizing and hydrating sunscreens.
Oily skin: Choose refreshing, oil-controlling sunscreens.
Sensitive/acne-prone skin: It is recommended to choose hard sunscreen, or sunscreens that are gentle and less irritating.
Whether sunscreen needs to be removed with makeup remover?
Most sunscreens on the market are combinations of physical and chemical, therefore, it is recommended to remove makeup after applying sunscreen, and to do deep cleansing regularly.
